Day 8 - Achiltibuie to Torridon

Another wet start........

Day 8 - Achiltibuie to Torridon

We awoke to find that the overnight rain had left our parked motorcycles standing in a 4" deep pool of water!

We ate breakfast and watched the skies outpouring of rain, wondering amongst ourselves how wet we may become during today's journey.

We set off shortly after 9am, riding the single track road from Achiltibuie towards the main road for Ullapool. The rain seemed to ease slowly, yet the rivers were still wild gushing torrents.

We followed the road south to Ullapool where we refuelled and took a short break while Jen rummaged through some of the shops.

Back en route we skirted the north side of Loch Broom, before turning onto the coastal route that runs through Dundonnel, Poolewe and Gairloch, the weather rapidly changing between sunshine, rain, and grey skies. We have ridden this road before and always enjoy the many picturesque vistas that present themselves when cresting a rise or exiting a bend.

We stopped for lunch in Poolewe, and refreshed we rode onto Kinlochewe where we refuelled.

A brief visit to a viewpoint over Loch Maree from Glen Docherty was our final stop before riding west along another single track road to our accommodation for the next 3 nights at The Torridon, Achnasheen.
