Day 7 - Altnaharra to Achiltibuie

IThere is only one word to describe today's ride.... VIEWS ........ and ...... AMAZING ....... and .........BREATHTAKING ...... and ........ MAGNIFICENT ........ and ............ I could go on!!

We left Altnaharra riding north to the coastal route, turning west towards Durness.

Our breath was taken away as we crested  the road at the east side of Loch Eriboll, its calm waters glistening in the sun.

The road skirted the loch and climbed out of the west side towards Durness.

We had a brief stop in Durness and talked about the remarkable Loch Eriboll.

The road steadily climbed out of Durness in a southerly direction, then the View Rollercoaster began.

We passed the  picturesque sea lochs of Loch Inchard and Loch Laxford on our seaward side, while still having a constantly changing  variety of mountains, lochans, rivers and waterfalls on the landward side of the road.

We continued, entranced, stopping for a break in Scourie where the local shopkeeper told us about her love of the Northumberland coastline and Dunstanburgh Castle!

We continued south, passing the dramatic Badcall Bay before the mountains and lochans again took our attention.

We stopped at a variety of viewpoints, each time remarking upon the magnificent panoramas.

If we stopped at every notable view, to take a photograph, we would never have made our destination.

We hope that the bike mounted cameras will have recorded most of the outstanding sights.

We crossed the dramatic Kylescu Bridge, then turned off the main road towards Drumbeg, Clashnessie,  Clachtoll towards Lochinver where we had a break.

Following refreshment we rode south out of Lochinver via Inverkirkaig, passing Loch Oscaig, onto Achiltibuie where we were staying overnight at The Summer Isles Hotel.
